One of my favorite things to do when visiting NYC is to slip down to Chelsea and the Meatpacking District on Sunday morning, when the city that never sleeps still appears to be sleeping. It’s a moment when the Big Apple contradicts itself, momentarily trading in noisy New York for something more like a tranquil township.
This trip I especially enjoyed because I stayed at The Jane in the West Village and Chelsea was just a quick jaunt from the fabulous, inexpensive hotel. Chelsea Market opens early and for the first hour or so is devoid of the throngs of people that will eventually descend on the former biscuit factory. In this moment, I like having shops like the Chelsea Market Basket and the little Italian market, buon Italia, filled with spices and chocolate (and spiced chocolate!), all to myself.
After a cup of coffee and a delicious whole wheat oat pecan with golden raisin twist from Amy’s Bread, I head back out to window shop until the hour most retail doors open on Sundays. To that end, there is no shortage of stylish windows in the area and the fabulous Moschino (click on image that says WINDOWS) certainly never falls short when it comes to window displays. This season I was especially excited to see what they would have because their très mod Spring/Summer 2013 collection has been tickling my fancy since my very first peek.
And I’m not the only one drooling over Moschino’s brilliant black & white party. Rachel Zoe recently styled Jaime King for the April 2013 issue of InStyle, which included a darling stretch cady jacket.
So, what’s your favorite way to wear black and white?
